CSI Practice Session:
February Session - Specifying Exterior Glass

CSI Learning Level:

Basic

Intended Audience:

Primary: Specifiers
Secondary: Construction Project Team Members

Course Description:

Writing a glass specification is a multi-step task, because exterior insulating glass may pass through two or even three manufacturers before it gets into the building. Join Elias Saltz and Louis Medcalf in a discussion of how to approach the process of specifying these different stages of fabrication.

  • Base glass: clear, ultraclear, tinted.
  • Low-E and pyrolytic performance coatings.
  • Fabrication into insulating glass.
  • Energy code requirements.
  • Windborne debris resistance, blast resistance, and security glass.
  • Methods of glazing.
